Welcome to the University of Auckland’s Wireless Network |
You must read the following important security guidelines
Wireless networks are
inherently less secure than wired networks and it is strongly recommend that
you take the following security precautions:
1.
Verify
the identity of the web site you log in to (this page) by viewing the
certificate (click on the or at
bottom right) and ensure it is valid and up-to-date.
2.
Be
aware that the UoA wireless network is OPEN and that,
unless otherwise protected, information traverses it in clear text.
3.
When
logging in your UserID and Password are protected
using SSL. If you connect to any other sensitive services you must make sure
you use an SSL or VPN encrypted connection.
4.
Ensure
you have a client firewall installed and that it is turned on.
Before accessing
the University’s wireless network you must also agree to comply with all
conditions contained within the University’s ICT Acceptable Use Policy.
